Eric Garcia, the Barcelona defender, has revealed that the team and head coach Hansi Flick endured a difficult time leading up to the clash against Real Madrid. Despite the emotional strain, Barcelona secured the La Liga title with a 2-0 victory in El Clasico during matchday 35 of the Spanish league.
Speaking after the match, Garcia stated that the day was particularly hard on Flick and everyone within the squad, following the passing of the German coach’s father on Sunday morning. He emphasized that the players were determined to win and clinch the title in such a special match against their historic rivals.
Garcia also expressed great confidence in his abilities, noting that Flick had shown him immense support throughout the season and deployed him in multiple positions on the field. This, he said, helped him deliver his best performances.
The Barcelona center-back highlighted that the team ended a fantastic season thanks to their collective spirit, pointing out that most of the squad members grew up within the club and possess a competitive, winning mentality.
