Noah Lyles, the reigning Olympic 100m gold medalist from the United States, took to social media to share footage of himself training alongside Australian sprint prodigy Gout Gout. The two athletes, both sponsored by Adidas, first met in early 2024 when Gout traveled to the US, and have since built a strong bond through joint practice sessions and podcast appearances.
At just 18 years old, Gout has already made a name for himself on the global stage. He secured a silver medal in the 200m at the 2024 U20 World Championships and broke Usain Bolt’s previous record for the best time by a 16-year-old. After competing at the Tokyo World Championships last year, Gout has continued to shine, setting a U20 world record of 19.67 seconds in the 200m and clocking a personal best of 10.00 seconds in the 100m earlier this season. Just recently, he was officially named to the Australian team for the upcoming U20 World Championships.
In the video shared by Lyles, the duo can be seen working on their starting blocks together, with Lyles appearing to hold a slight edge off the line. Lyles is slated to compete in the 100m at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix in Tokyo, while both sprinters are confirmed to face off for the first time over 150m at the Golden Spike meet in Ostrava, Czech Republic, in June — a highly anticipated showdown between the established champion and the rising star.
